Secondly, unless a whole lot of people vote in the next 15 hours that they DON'T want me to cover Mandrake the Magician from time-to-time, it looks like the pro-Mandrake camp won by a landslide. Therefore, tomorrow will be the first official "Mandrake Monday".
So, a tip of the top hat to those who voted, and to those who wanted no Mandrake, I can only say that I give you my word I didn't hypnotize anyone into voting for it.

O Solis did an awesome job~ top notch~! We could cast a younger, taller Telly Savalis to play his version of the Phantom.
ReplyDeleteMandrake Monday~! Love it~!
That cover image: I have that comic book somewhere in my collection.
ReplyDeleteI did cast my vote, for a bit of Mandrake to be included. He and The Phantom, if not friends, are professional colleagues of some sort... After all, Mandrake was a guest at the wedding of The Phantom and Diana.
I've seen that cover image used 3 or 4 different times for various publishers' versions of Mandrake. I believe The Ghost who walks was also a guest at the wedding of Mandrake and Princess Narda.
ReplyDeleteAaron- Thanks for posting the drawing.
ReplyDeleteLysdexicuss- Thanks for the kind words. I didn't see the Telly resembance when I was drawing it, but, hmmm, now that you mention it. It's got me thinking, though. I'm starting work on my next Phantom drawing and I think if I were to base the features (what can be seen of them) on an actor, it might be Rory Calhoun, who has (had?) a great facial structure.
Oscar: I just looked up Rory Calhoun for a reminder. He DOES have great features, nice cleft chin. He'd make a good Magnus, Robot Fighter as well.
