The Good Mark! New recipients!

I feel moved to hand out some more good marks today!

First of all, I'd like to award a Good Mark to Sal Velluto. No, I'm not kissing up so he'll send me a Christmas card (although that would rock! hint, hint). Sal agreed to take time out of his busy schedule let me interview him for my blog. In addition, Sal really strikes me a a genuinely good egg, and so, I award him, The Good Mark!

Next, I'd like to award a Good Mark to Mr. Jermayn Parker of Australia. Jermayn and I recently traded some comics. I helped him complete his run of Marvel Indiana Jones comics and Jermayn hooked me up with a stack of FREW Phantoms. But more than that, Jermayn sent The Ghost Who Blogs a bonus... An official Skull Ring! Now, you may find this hard to believe, but I didn't already have one!! I know, right? So, for being a first class comics swapper and for giving me a piece of Phantom paraphenalia I sorely lacked, you get The Good Mark!

More Side-By-Side Don Newton- Phantom #68

This was inspired by an e-mail I received from Jungle Patrol member Michael Wurl, aka: The Apocolyte. Michael wrote me the following:

"In my webby travels I came across this beautiful Don Newton cover painting that I thought you may enjoy, or perhaps post.
You're under no obligation to post it, but when I saw it I naturally thought of you!"

Well, first of all, it warms the heart of The Ghost Who Blogs to know you're thinking of me when you see Phantom art. But besides that, you've inspired me to do another post highlighting the contrast between the beautiful paintings Don Newton did for Charlton, vs. the printed piece.

The point of all this is not to dump on Charlton, but rather to highlight how much more beautiful the original paintings were than the kick-ass covers they became.

So, here's to you, Michael Wurl! For providing me with fodder for yet another post, you receive The Good Mark!

The Good Mark!

This is the first time I, The Ghost Who Blogs, have awarded the Good Mark to anyone. Perhaps I will make it a regular thing?

First of all, I want to hand out a Good Mark to my friend, Jungle Patrol member Mykal Banta. Mykal has generously offered to supply The Ghost Who Blogs with a wonderful piece of Phantom media and I want him to know I sincerely appreciate it. So, here it is Mykal, your Good Mark:

Secondly, I want to extend sincere thanks to an unknown Phan. A Phan who posts on the Phantom Phorum under the handle "Sjefen" (which means "commander" in Norwegian). Sjefen felt that it was an injustice that I had never read any of the fantastic comics currently coming out of Scandinavia. He asked me to e-mail him my mailing address and presto! a week and a half later I recieved an envelope with 5 recent issues of Fantomet in it. He asked nothing in return. Perhaps just as amazing, this mysterious "commander" sent the comics to me in an Egmont mailing envelope! How cool is that!

So Sjefen, whoever you are, you get a Good Mark from The Ghost Who Blogs! Thanks for the comics!
